Shirley Kowalchuk is a Winnipeg based writer who has written for Nurscene Magazine, Inner City Voice, Western Living Magazine, the Winnipeg Free Press, Manitoba Travel Guide (Manipeg Publications), and others. She has won an Eric Wells Excellence in Journalism Award.
She has been involved with activities in the North Point Douglas community, as a summer coordinator for the Exchange District National Historic Site, and has worked as a registered nurse. She admired the work of Nick Ternette, and assisted in getting his archival collection to the University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections.
