History
Les J. Millington was born in Derby, England in 1911. In 1925, he immigrated to Canada and initially settled in Carstairs, Alberta, where he worked as a cowhand on the Hays and Co. dairy farm. Millington worked in Carstairs for a number of years, spent a short period of time in British Columbia, and then moved to Manitoba in 1936. Also in 1936, and shortly before moving to Manitoba, Millington married Luvena Callico and the newlywed couple set up their own cattle farm in Rosser, Manitoba. The Millingtons soon moved to St. Norbert and expanded their operations. In 1956, Millington moved his operations to Georgetown, Ontario and founded his cattle export company, Rockford International. Rockford International continued to grow and Millington made a sizable contribution to the export of Canadian cattle overseas. Millington traveled and exported cattle to many countries in the 1960s, including Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Peru, and Italy. In 1969, Millington moved Rockford International back to Manitoba and set up shop in St. Norbert. In 1978, Millington sold off his assets and retired.
