Name of creator
Leon Edel was an author of many books and biographer of Henry James. He lived in New York, but vacationed and resided for parts of the year in Hawaii and Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. He maintained close contact with his cousin Helen Promislow, who lived in Winnipeg, through letters and a few visits. Edel was married twice; his first wife passed away from cancer quite a few years after their separation.
The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in October 1995 by Henry Promislow, Helen's husband. Helen had passed away in 1993.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of correspondence between Helen Promislow and Leon Edel.
