Margaret Pugh

The materials contained in the Margaret Pugh series consist of biographical material, her records relating to the Home Economics and Agriculture Department at the University of Manitoba, her subsequent career as a dietitian and employment as such at various hospitals including Deer Lodge Veterans Hospital. A large collection of cookbooks, recipes and research related to nutrition and health are included in the series. Margaret's hobbies and interests in collecting postcards and traveling are reflected in the materials.

Records relating to the Pugh family home, Lot 79, in Charleswood. A restaurant was later established there in 1996.

Biographical Information

Textual records relating to May Brodrick and her personal life. This includes newspaper clippings, social club newsletters and financial accounts information.

Deer Lodge Scrapbook

Photographs and textual correspondance with Margaret's colleagues from the Deer Lodge Veterans Hospital. Scrapbooks were compiled to organize to chronicle these records.

Notebooks

Included are notebooks, calenders, diaries and daily planners from members of the Pugh family.

Correspondance

Correspondance between various Brodrick family members both handwritten and typed. The material also includes postcards and biographical newspaper clippings.

Newspaper collection dating back to the mid 1800s. Included are articles discussing the Winnipeg general strike and Sitting Bull's death.

Materials include newspaper clippings, programmes and invitations to social events in Winnipeg as well as typed papers on horticulture.

Winnipeg Theatre Clippings collection

Collection consists of two ledger-sized scrapbooks of theatre-related clippings from Winnipeg newspapers from 1914 to 1927 and one smaller scrapbook listing, alphabetically, the people profiled in J. B. McGeachy’s “I First Saw” column in the Winnipeg Free Press from 1921-1929.

Stewart Pugh - Childrens Book

The largest item in this file is Stewart Pugh's baby book which has a few pages with written anecdotes from his childhood as well as a clump of baby hair. Included are medical records, a stamp collection and a T. Eaton Co. letter from Santa.
