Records bound together by staples, archival clips or other means were done so by the donors and thus are treated as a single record, even those which contain what could be considered more than one document.

he A.99-44, A.99-92, A.03-13, A.04-207, A.04-208, and A.05-112 accessions contain records reflecting Oakes' teaching career as both an educator and writer. Included are Oakes' correspondence records regarding publication of her articles and reviewer's comments, Oakes' teaching dossier and her application for tenure. In addition to textual material, the collection contains 146 photographs and 8 negatives documenting various department of Native Studies functions and igloo building as part of the Arctic Lifestyles course. Also included is one audio cassette of a seminar "Braving the Cold: Continuity and Change in Polar Clothing" held in Leiden, The Netherlands.

The A.03-123 and A.04-209 accessions consist of materials related to Oakes' research including correspondence, product development and marketing reports for the Minnguq Sewing Group. Also included are numerous artifact cards for the various materials collected by Oakes and her husband Rick Riewe on their collecting trips and for display in Oakes' exhibitions. The photograph collection includes one photo album (116 photographs) of the Minnguq Sewing Group of Broughton Island, 76 photographs and 75 negatives from Oakes trip to Denver, Colorado museums in 1997 and 4 VHS and 9 U-matic videocassettes documenting birdskin clothing preparation for the "Coat of Eider" project. Also included are 2 audio cassettes describing the birdskin clothing process; much of the commentary contained on these audiocassettes is in Inuktitut.

A2011-114 consists of records related to the production of "Moment of Light" and "The Will to Win" ("La rage de vaincre"), as well as records relating to Gordon Reeve's sculptures and career as a filmmaker. The accession includes textual records, photographs, textile material, a promotional poster from "Moment of Light," film and audio reels (16 and 35 mm), audio mastering tapes, and high band master tapes.

A2012-86 consists of VHS tapes, Betamax tapes, Betacam tapes, U-matic tapes, Hi-8 tapes, 16-mm film reels, 16-mm audio reels, audio tapes, and 4 digital audio tapes from the production of the films "The Will to Win" ("La rage de vaincre") and "Moment of Light - The Dance of Evelyn Hart," as well as some material related to other films created by Reeve, including "I am the Hornblower," "Harawi," and “In Hidden Gardens.”

The fonds consists of a three-page history of the Bison Building, which once stood on the campus of the University of Manitoba. It was written by J.W. Carter for the Department of Private Funding. The building was originally built as a double hangar for the Royal Canadian Air Force. It was moved to the University of Manitoba in 1948 and served for a short while as Students' Union Building, after which it was rechristened the Bison Building.

Survival Research Newsletters and Periodicals Collection

This collection was arranged in part by the transferring agent in accordance with specifications he provided. This collection consists of 218 newsletters, journals and other publications created by Spiritualist churches and organizations between the 1980s and 2011 which have been collected by the Survival Research Institute of Canada. The collection takes up 0.26 linear metres of shelf space and is fully textual. The items and folders were organized by the transfering agent and are divided by publication. Publications and papers bound together by staples, archival clips or other means were done so by the transfering agent and thus are treated as a single record, even those which contain what could be considered more than one document. The second accession (A15-139) consisted of less than 12 issues which were interfiled with the previous accession.

The fonds displays a wealth of background information on the state of Aboriginal Peoples in Canada in the late-20th and early-21st centuries, as well as showing the depth and versatility of a uniquely gifted artist. The fonds consists of four series related to the life and career of Marvin Francis. The material documents his writing career as a poetry and prose writer with an indexed collection based on typewritten and handwritten manuscripts. Included are drafts of poetry, short stories, and stage and radio plays. Also in the collection is extensive secondary information reflective of his career as a poet, playwright, visual artist and actor, his work as a creative writing instructor, his participation in writing festivals and readings, and his work as a principal member of artistic groups such as the Manitoba Aboriginal Writers Collective, the Urban Shaman art gallery and the Manitoba Writers Guild. PC 250 consists of 6 VHS videocassettes and 2 mini digital videocassettes. The tape collection (TC 141) consists of 7 audio cassettes, 6 mini audio cassettes, and 7 compact discs. EL 12 consists of 8 3.5" computer diskettes.
