The fonds consists of two folders. Folder 1 contains three photocopied articles and the preface from A Chorus of Different Voices: German Canadian Identities, edited by Angelika E. Sauer & Matthias Zimmer, New York: Peter Lang, 1998. A Chorus of Different Voices was based on a workshop that took place in Edmonton in October 1996 with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the German-Canadian Studies Foundation, Winnipeg, the University of Alberta's Faculty of Arts, and the German-Canadian Business and Professional Association of Alberta. The articles are "Deconstructing German-Canadian Identity" by Matthias Zimmer, "As I Experienced Them Myself: The Autobiographical German-language Immigrant Woman in Prairie Canada, 1874- 1910" by Royden Loewen, and "The 'Ideal German Canadian': Politics, Academics and the Historiographical Construction of German-Canadian Identity" by Angelika E. Sauer. All three articles chronicle the German-Canadian immigrant experience, and particularly how the new immigrants attempted to negotiate a position with the host Canadian society. The second folder contains a German newspaper article from the Kanada Kurier, dated September 30, 1999. The article, written in German, is entitled "Denkmalschutz und Ehrengrab: Dr. F. Eckhardts Familien-grabmal in Berlin."

The collection consists of a scrapbook of newspaper clippings from both the Winnipeg Free Press and the Winnipeg Evening Tribune regarding the Winnipeg General Strike of 1919. The clippings are from May 27-29, June 2-3, 6, 10-13, 30 and July 1, 1919. One clipping is from November 20, 1965. One complete photocopy of the scrapbook is included.

The fonds consists of one diary with entries from 1898 to 1935. The diary begins with a brief resumé of Reverend Dugald McIntyre's life followed by daily entries. The diary includes details about his working life, traveling, and details about the progress of his children, Campbell and Marjorie. The letters to D. McIntyre from 1913 to 1935 include a letter from Ella M. Hunt, wife of W.M. Hunt, letters of sympathy, and letters to McIntyre from his son, Campbell, regarding his college graduation. One sheet of sermon notes is included.

The fonds consists of Speechly's notes on her life activities and achievements, a paper presented by her on social conditions (1954), a paper on the formation of the Winnipeg Birth Control Society (1934), and a letter to Winnipeg Foundation requesting a grant for the Family Planning Association. Yearly reports prepared by Mrs. Speechly for the Family Planning Association of Winnipeg for 1948, 1955, 1957, 1958, 1964 and 1965 as well as the rough drafts of yearly reports for 1957 and 1958 are included. The script for the CBC broadcast entitled Woman of the Century Radio Letter by Jessica Swail (1967) is included. The fonds also contains Mrs. P.H.T. Thorlakson's presentation on the occasion of awarding Ms. Speechly the degree of Doctor of Laws, items and testimonials relating to Ms. Speechly's retirement party and 90th birthday party, clippings regarding the opening of Mary Speechly Hall at the University of Manitoba in 1964, copies of Institute News for March 1960 and 1964 and a black and white photograph of Mary Speechly. Finally, a letter from Eileen Mestery to Ms. Bishop regarding the history of the Winnipeg Family Planning Association, 6 February 1980, is included.
