Umfang und Inhalt:
Der Nachlass bezieht sich in erster Linie auf die Untersuchungen parapsychischer Erscheinungen, die T.G. und Lillian Hamilton im Zeitraum zwischen 1918 und 1945 vornahmen. Thematisch geht es bei diesen Unterlagen um Klopfen, Hellsehen, Trance-Zustände und -Diagramme, Telekinese, Wachsabdrücke, Glockenzeichen, Nachschriften und Visionen, sowie um teleplasmische Manifestationen. Die Unterlagen weisen eine Vielzahl von Formaten auf: Einklebe-Alben, Teilnehmerlisten und Register von Séancen, Zeugenberichte, automatisches Schreiben, Korrespondenz, Reden und Vorträge, Zeitungsausschnitte, Zeitschriftenaufsätze, Bücher, Fotografien, fotografische Platten (Negative und Positive), Abzüge, Diapositive, Tonbänder, Manuskripte, Reklame im Zusammenhang mit grösseren Veröffentlichungen. Sämtliche fotografischen Abzüge, die auf den Negativ-Platten beruhen, sind bei den schriftlichen Berichten über die durch sie illustrierten Experimente belassen. Mit wenigen Ausnahmen wurden die Negativ-Platten zur Archivierung neu fotografiert und sind damit in der Form von schwarz-weiss Abzügen (glänzend) zugänglich. Eine Sammlung dazugehörender Bücher und Zeitschriften, die sich im Nachlass befanden, wurde als selbständige Bibliothek katalogisiert und zugänglich gemacht.

Arthur T. "Art" Puttee fonds

Fonds contains one hockey goaltender stick used by Art Puttee while goalie for the Canadian hockey team (the University of Manitoba Grads) that won the 1931 World Championships in Krynica, Poland. Handwritten on one side of the handle is the text, "Winners of Turnbull Cup (Manitoba Champ), Abbott Cup (Western Canada Champ), Ross Robertson Memorial Cup (Canadian Champ). Played 21 games, won 17, tied 3, lost 1." On the outer edge of the handle is the text, "Total goals - for 113 - against 36." Other side of the handle has Art Puttee's signature. Signatures of other players are partially visiable across other parts of the stick; legible names include Doupe, Murdoch, and Chapman.

Portée et contenu : Le fonds se rapporte principalement aux recherches du Docteur T.G. et Lillian Hamilton sur les phénomènes paranormaux à partir de 1918 jusqu’en 1945. Les sujets traités dans les documents incluent les coups frappés, la clairvoyance, les états de transe et les graphiques de transe, la télékinèse, les moulages de paraffine, les tintements de cloches, les transcriptions et visions, ainsi que les téléplasmes. This collection consists of 15 Hollinger boxes and 8 archival shoeboxes of material relating to the history of Seven Oaks General Hospital, including its construction and the construction of the hospital's Wellness Institute. Material relating to the construction and promotion of Seven Oaks and the Wellness Institute is also included in the collection. The majority of the photographs in this collection are of members of the hospital's staff and board members at events in and supporting the hospital. Also included in the collection are copies of the hospital's newsletters, VHS copies of local television programs featuring the hospital, and copies of speeches and other public relations material.

The fonds consists primarily of photocopies of articles, documents, correspondence, photographs or artwork that the donor has acquired from various magazines, newspapers, books, associates and other archives and libraries. The vast majority of the collection relates to “Lost Horizon”, with a much smaller, though still significant, percentage relating to "Helen of Troy". Some of the collection falls outside the scope of either of the two aforementioned movies, being a collection of writings, photos and artwork relating to Hollywood and the movie industry in general, as well as California travel information and info on Tibet. The fonds is divided into the series “Lost Horizon” articles, “Lost Horizon” documents and research, personal effects, "Lost Horizon” publicity stills, “Lost Horizon” production photographs, “Lost Horizon” negatives, “Lost Horizon” art, “Helen of Troy”, related interests, oversized items, "Lost Horizon" microfilm, correspondence about “Lost Horizon”, “Lost Horizon” biographies, oversized photos of “Lost Horizon,” video collection associated with “Lost Horizon,” and audio cassette collection associated with “Lost Horizon”.

The "Lost Horizon" articles series contains newspaper, magazine and journal articles, as well as book excerpts, related to various "Lost Horizon" subjects, such as production, reception and cast and crew biographies. The "Lost Horizon" various articles series also features articles discussing James Hilton's other works. The “Lost Horizon” documents and research series contains various primary sources such as interviews, scripts, theatre programs and legal documents. The personal effects series contains content related to Ely Bronstein’s personal life such as correspondence and ephemera, though the vast majority of this material relates to “Lost Horizon”. The video collection associated with “Lost Horizon” series contains films based on other works by James Hilton or starring Ronald Colman, as well as information on Frank Capra’s life and his American Film Institute Life Achievement Award. The audio cassette collection associated with “Lost Horizon” series contains various primary sources such as interviews, theatre programs, soundtracks, prayers, and news reports. The next three series contain photographs of “Lost Horizon”, both publicity stills - scenes from the movie -slides, and production photos – pictures taken of the production processes or of members of the production crew. The negatives relating to “Lost Horizon” are reproduced photographic negatives, while the artwork contains movie posters and concept art. The “Helen of Troy” series contains material relating to that film, including articles, documents and publicity stills. The related interest series contains various articles and pictures related to Hollywood and the movie industry, as well as information about California and Tibet. All oversized items requiring larger boxes are included in the oversized items series. Lastly, the "Lost Horizon" microfilm series contains press books and visual representations of the film on 35mm microfilm. The items are all paper photocopies of their original formats, with the exceptions of a few original correspondences, a few original newspaper clippings, the negatives and the microfilm.

However, the material pertaining to her aunt Elizabeth Brown constitutes a second series. The third accrual A.11-28 contains five series. They include HBC fur trade research material, correspondence, student files & administration, First Nations and Metis research & course material, and oversized material. The fourth accrual A.014-127 contains eight series. They include family & academic material, correspondence, student papers, unpublished writings by other academics, research material, photograph collection containing 10 photos, 31 slides, tape collection containing 3 audio CDs, 27 audiocassettes & an oversize collection containing Harper's Weekly magazine from May 2, 1885 documenting the Riel Rebellion.

Friesen, Henry George

Pugh Family fonds

The collection was created by Margaret Pugh who organized and preserved the family's history. The fonds consists of materials from four families linked to the Pugh Family: Broderick, Wilson, Stewart and Pawling. The fonds includes a large amount of correspondance and other textual material dating back to the mid 19th century up to 1998. A large quantity of Postcards from the late 1800s to the post-war period make up the niche portion of the collection. Margaret's father, Frederick Pugh, worked in the Research Bureau of the T.E. Eaton Company through the early 1900s until 1938, included in the collection is correspondance between him and executives of the company. Also contained in the collection are textual records of Margaret's career at Deer Lodge Hospital. These records provide some insight into the administrative activities of the dietary department at the veteran's institution. In addition, Margaret's collection of cookbooks and recipes provide a comprehensive insight into gendered domestic consumption and advertising in the post-war period. Overall, the records provide a vivid illustration of the activities of a family clan that lived in Southern Ontario during the 19th century and Winnipeg during and after the Edwardian period.
