Fonds primarily consist of photographs, newspaper fragments, and several publications. The photographs are mainly photos of Winnipeg taken by Girnith Stewart’s family members or are pictures of friends and family. The newspapers do not have any relation to Girnith Stewart or her family, and the publications are books that the family has collected, a thesis written by Girnith and her Graduation Exercises Dinner and Dance Program she got at the University of Manitoba.

The fonds is divided into four series: Shipping Manifest of the SS Palmyra, Publications, Photographs, and Oversized Materials.

This fonds largely consists of colour guides and front pages for P. Craig Russell's "Ring of the Nibelung" series of comics for Dark Horse Comics. The fonds contains 845 colour guides and 14 front pages, along with a published copy of "The Ring of the Nibelung".

The collection primarily consists of photographs of the environment around the Norway House Indian Residential School. Several images taken of individuals on a Curtiss Model F aircraft display the aircraft that was used for the first air mail run to Rossville. The collection also contains a receipt and postcards.

The fonds primarily consists of reports, minutes, notes, letters, and finances in relation to the numerous organizations Meadmore was involved with. While the majority of the records were created in Winnipeg, the series ‘Assembly of First Nations’ contains records created throughout Canada. The fonds also includes photographs of an event organized by Kinew Housing Incorporated, “Let`s Rap About A.I.D.S.: Putting the Puzzle Together” board game, and two VHS.

The archival materials on the Baker Lake consists of documents produced by David Orlikow, M.P. from Winnipeg North, who presented to the House of Commons his overview of an early dispute over the availability of soapstone in the Baker Lake area.

The vast majority of the collection relates to “Lost Horizon”, with a much smaller, though still significant, percentage relating to "Helen of Troy". Some of the collection falls outside the scope of either of the two aforementioned movies, being a collection of writings, photos and artwork relating to Hollywood and the movie industry in general, as well as California travel information and info on Tibet. The "Lost Horizon" articles series contains newspaper, magazine and journal articles, as well as book excerpts, related to various "Lost Horizon" subjects, such as production, reception and cast and crew biographies. The "Lost Horizon" various articles series also features articles discussing James Hilton's other works. The “Lost Horizon” documents and research series contains various primary sources such as interviews, scripts, theatre programs and legal documents. The personal effects series contains content related to Ely Bronstein’s personal life such as correspondence and ephemera, though the vast majority of this material relates to “Lost Horizon”. The video collection associated with “Lost Horizon” series contains films based on other works by James Hilton or starring Ronald Colman, as well as information on Frank Capra’s life and his American Film Institute Life Achievement Award. The audio cassette collection associated with “Lost Horizon” series contains various primary sources such as interviews, theatre programs, soundtracks, prayers, and news reports. The next three series contain photographs of “Lost Horizon”, both publicity stills - scenes from the movie -slides, and production photos – pictures taken of the production processes or of members of the production crew. The negatives relating to “Lost Horizon” are reproduced photographic negatives, while the artwork contains movie posters and concept art. The “Helen of Troy” series contains material relating to that film, including articles, documents and publicity stills. The related interest series contains various articles and pictures related to Hollywood and the movie industry, as well as information about California and Tibet. All oversized items requiring larger boxes are included in the oversized items series. Lastly, the "Lost Horizon" microfilm series contains press books and visual representations of the film on 35mm microfilm. The items are all paper photocopies of their original formats, with the exceptions of a few original correspondences, a few original newspaper clippings, the negatives and the microfilm.

The Broadfoot collection is organized primarily according to his nine published histories: Ten Lost Years (1973); Six War Years (1974); The Pioneer Years (1976); Years of Sorrow, Years of Shame (1977); My Own Years (1983); The Veterans' Years (1985); The Immigrant Years (1986); Next-Year Country (1988) and Ordinary Russians (1989). Contained within these collections are contracts, manuscripts (edited and unedited), rejected stories and photographs relating to the books that were finally produced. Signed copies of the books are provided for all but Six War Years. Newspaper and magazine reviews have been included for most of the books. There are also two unpublished manuscripts and a number of essays on such topics as the writing of oral history and the publishing industry in Canada. Broadfoot carefully organized his papers and included descriptions and explanations of most of his papers.

An important aspect of the collection is the correspondence that Broadfoot received when he solicited the assistance of Canadians in the writing of two of his books: The Veterans' Years (1985) and The Immigrant Years (1986). The files of correspondence (seven for The Veterans' Years and three for The Immigrant Years) include, respectively, stories from men and women detailing their personal experiences in the Second World War and their return to Canada; and stories of families and individuals who immigrated to Canada in the post-war era and their adjustment to Canadian life.

A conspicuous absence in Broadfoot's collection is his taped interviews. Broadfoot did not save his tapes and, thus, the actual reminiscences are not available to the researcher. As well, Broadfoot corresponded for twelve years with Canadian author, Margaret Laurence. According to Broadfoot, Laurence kept all of his letters. However, Broadfoot destroyed all of Laurence's letters to him.

Although the provenance of this collection is Arnold O. Brigden, the bulk of the manuscript collection consists of incoming letters from Arnold's family in England and Toronto. These letters contain more information about Arnold's family than about Arnold himself. Order was imposed on these letters since there appeared to be no original order and in several cases, because the year was not indicated, it was not always possible to ensure that the letters are arranged in their original sequence. The letters cover the period from 1909-1971 with the bulk of them written during the Edwardian era and during World War I. Sixty-one letters were received by Arnold Brigden from his mother, Susie Brigden, who was the wife of a Methodist minister. Since Methodist ministers only stayed three years in one parish, the letters are sent from Barrow in Furness, Lewes, Peterborough, and Cottingham and they are kept in separate folders. These letters give a good idea of the problems and concerns of a Methodist minister's wife at the beginning of the twentieth century as well as concerns over World War I. Arnold's two sisters, Kathleen and Dorothy, wrote twenty-seven and eighteen letters respectively. These letters are an excellent source about young English women in the early twentieth century who are finishing schooling and finding their first jobs as teachers. Dorothy's letters are also a source of information regarding concerts and plays taking place in London. Throughout there is a continuing concern about money matters and the difficulties of maintaining a genteel lifestyle on a limited income.

The letters from Toronto are from Arnold's cousins, Bertha and Fred, as well as from Arnold's Uncle, William, who was actively involved in Methodist church activities in Toronto. Fred Brigden was the son of Frederick Brigden, the founder of Brigden's in Toronto, and some of Fred's letters refer to business matters, especially after 1914 when Arnold became the manager of Brigden's in Winnipeg. However, Fred was a professional artist and since he was a member of the Ontario Society of Artists and had exhibited at the Royal Canadian Academy, his letters often refer to sketches or paintings which he was working on. Two of Fred's letters contain small sketches of work in progress.

Also included in the collection is a letter from Charles F. Comfort, written in 1971, to L.F. Smith, Vice-President of Creative Services of Brigdens Limited, Toronto, thanking Mr. Smith for sending Charles Comfort a compy of the commemorative book The First One Hundred Years. This book, written by Edward J. Nicholson in 1971, is kept in the Department. A second letter from Charles Comfort to Arnold Brigden discusses errors which occured in the earlier letter which Comfort sent to L.F. Smith as well as a general discussion of the commemorative book.

Only two written records were actually produced by Arnold Brigden himself. One is a brief postcard (c. 1956) and the other is his travel diary, Holiday Jaunts, which gives daily descriptions of holiday activities at Bear River, Nova Scotia in 1906, Port Sydney, Muskoka in 1907, and Felkstone in England where Arnold visited his sister Kathleen for a weekend in 1909.

This collection also contains thirteen dry plate negatives taken in 1908, when Arnold was still a young man and visiting his family in England, eleven glass slides of flowers and the Canadian Rockies, forty-two black and white photos taken in 1936 of the funeral of King George V and Wisley Gardens as well as a wedding picture of Arnold's sister, Kathleen, when she married Will in 1915. The photo collection also includes 132 35mm slides (c. 1956-1957) consisting of pictures of European trips, camping in the Canadian Rockies and flowers. As much as possible, the orginal order of the photograph collection has been maintained.

The balance of the collection consists of fifteen postcards, most of them showing the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, England, and two pamphlets of Wisley Garden published by the Royal Horticultural Society.

The Winnipeg Art Gallery also has a collection of Arnold Brigden's papers and further primary source material relating to Frederick Brigden, the founder of Brigden's in Toronto, can be found in the Baldwin Room, Metropolitan Toronto Library. Three of the envelopes bear the name of Mr. L. Ross Murray, 485 Wellington Crescent, Winnipeg 9, Manitoba. One is addressed to him at The Winnipeg Humane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 1059 Logan Avenue, Winnipeg 3, Manitoba. The photograph was mounted in a commercial quality gold-tone metal frame of 1960s vintage, which has been removed. There are 3 envelopes and one newspaper clipping which was inserted in back of the fame, discovered when the frame was dismantled. On the black cardboard backing for the easel frame is glued and taped a commercially printed address label for a Louise C. Wolfenden at Toronto.

With the addition of the new instalments, the collection now consists of .78 metres (32.5 inches) in seven (7) storage boxes. It contains working files of the Manitoba branch of the Canadian Public Relations Society. These include: By-Laws and Regulations; Manitoba executive meeting minutes from 1976-1993; annual general meeting minutes and reports from 1973-1993; financial statements; correspondence; job descriptions; records on educational programs and accreditation procedures; membership lists, surveys and correspondence; society newsletters and publicity materials; and records from several national CPRS events held in Manitoba including the "Progress '70" Conference. The photograph collection (PC116) contains an extensive pictorial record of the "Progress '70" Conference as well as photos of a number of other official functions.

The fonds consists of numerous correspondence between Mykola Hnatiw and various colleagues, associates and acquaintances, including: renowned sculptor Leo Mol; former Ukrainian dissident Danylo Shumuk; Ukrainian Canadian author and activist John Kolasky (Ivan Koliaska); Anna Kliuchko, the daughter of the revered Ukrainian poet and writer Ivan Franko; Hryhorii Kostiuk, Ukrainian American writer and publicist with the Ukrainian Free Academy of Sciences in the U.S.A.; and author and historian Jurij Lawrynenko (New York). Also contained within the collection is some biographical information on Mr. Hnatiw, including certificates and newspaper clippings.

The majority of this fonds came from the papers of the late Rev. Ruth Ann Dyke, who had received many of them in her official capacities in connection with Toronto's Springdale Church and with Springdale Park Spiritual Association (SPSA). It includes official corporate and other records of the SPSA, as well as correspondence with and writings of her teacher, Spiritualist minister William C. Partridge, and collected newspaper clippings about various Spiritualist topics.

The fonds consists of Stella Hryniuk's material on the Ukrainian Catholic Students Union "Obnova", the University of Manitoba; Andrey Sheptytsky Institute, St. Paul University, Ottawa; St. Vladimir's College, Roblin, Manitoba, and Ukrainian Art and Odessa Theatre posters. The fonds consist primarily of photocopies, clippings, photographs, negatives, research papers, newsletters and directories relating to the history of Chinese Canadians and Chinese communities in Manitoba. Included are taped and transcribed interviews of Manitoba residents of Chinese ancestry. These materials were collected by Julia Kwong during her research for the Manitoba Chinese Historical Society. Also included are typescripts and correspondence relating to Kwong’s other works.

The fonds consist of letters, photographs, clippings ephemera, memorabilia and notebooks detailing Simone Etsell La Rocque’s life and career.

This collection pertains to the publication of The Poplarfield & District Millenium Album 1900-2000, written and compiled by Edward Ledohowski, initially published in 2001. The nine folders contain textual and photographic records, as well as digital content on 4 compact discs. The textual files contain drafts of text for the books, a descriptive index of the files of negatives, and a hardcover 2nd edition of the book. The photographic negatives comprise many of the images used for the book, and range in size from 35mm to 11.5cm x 7.5cm). The compact disks contain digital copies of photographs and captions, a digital copy of the book, and photographs of research material on Ukrainians in Canada from 1919.

This fonds contains Spiritualist correspondence, ephemera and publications, clippings, course material, and photographs of fellow Spiritualists, 1959-1996; many of the textual records are photocopies. It includes lectures/talks prepared by Mrs. Hilda Martin (ca. 1917- dd. between 1987/1994), Mrs. Charlotte Newlands (1907-2003), and other individuals at the First Spiritualist Church of Montreal and St. James United Church (Montreal), as well as tributes relating to Leslie Flint (1911-1994) and photographs of Flint and his partner Bram Rogers (dd. 1993).

This collection contains publications, research, and documentation by William G. Leitch, as well as a small collection of Ducks Unlimited annual reports and magazines.
