This fonds was donated by Margaret Avison in the fall of 2003. It contains 12.5 cm. of textual records mostly relating to recent books published. There are 29 photographs covering 1921-2003 and six audio cassettes from 1987-2003.

The 2001 accrual contributes photographs, audiotapes, to the existing fonds, as well as material relating to Avison’s work such as worksheets, manuscripts, published copies, and reviews. It also includes correspondence from the 1980s to 2001, material relating to the honours and awards that she has received, and lectures and readings. This accrual contains Avison’s Bible study notes created from 1967 to 2001.

The 2003 accrual contains textual records mostly relating to recent published books. There are photographs dating from 1921 to 2003 and audio cassettes dating from 1987 to 2003.

The accrual (A.07-55) donated in 2007 contains 24 cm of textual records mostly relates to recent publications, production and publicity of Margarite Avison's work.

The final accrual donated in 2007 consists of Margaret Avison's correspondence arranged A-Z, book reviews, her manuscripts "Momentary Dark" ; "Concrete and Wild Carrot"; and the photograph and audio collections.

Margaret Avison's final collection of poems "Listening: last poems" (Winner of the Griffin Poetry Prize) was donated in 2009.

The initial collection consists of several hundred unpublished poems written by Margaret Avison between 1935 and the late 1970s. A later accession received in 1996 adds correspondence from various literary associates & covers the late 1950s into the mid 1990s. In several instances other writers & poets send samples of their work for Avison's comments. There is a lengthy correspondence between Avison and the American poet Fredrick Bock. The Collection includes two thesis about the works of Margaret Avison and several of her unpublished essays & poems.

The tape collection consists of a description of the original project for linguistic study of the Scotch-Cree dialect called Bungi ; transcriptions of all tapes as made by the Indian History Film Project, and the spectrograms and analysis of Margaret Stobie's dialectal study.

Contains research material used in writing her book Frederick Philip Grove (1973). Includes correspondence, interviews (tapes and typescripts), research notes and news articles. There are also copies of three articles on the Graphic Press plus a paper on "Friedrich Hebbel" delivered to the English Club in Simcoe, Ontario (1932). The fifteen tapes have been transferred to the Tape Collection, TC 2.

The Collection gives a glimpse of the rural Manitoba towns in which Frederick Grove lived and taught. The private interviews, based on recollections, reflect the communities' attitudes and feelings toward Grove. The collection especially highlight recollections of former students and show a personal, intimate aspect of Grove's unique character and lifestyle.

The fonds consists of: correspondence; newspaper clippings; personal journals; education material; teaching material including visually impaired material; drafts of articles and manuscripts; published articles; photographs and ephemera; unpublished material both fiction and non-fiction including plays, book reviews, poetry; material regarding the Senior Citizen’s Writing Group, Terry King, Foster Parent’s Plan, the Assiniboine Slopes Ecological Reserve, and patient rights; and several copies of her books and other anthologies in which she was published.

The contents of this fonds contains information pertaining to the work that Marie Bouchard carried out throughout her 11 years in Baker Lake. The Artist series includes material pertaining to individuals such as Jessie Oonark and Marion Tuu’luq, detailing information related to various exhibitions they participated in. The series of interviews conducted by Marie Bouchard throughout the 1990s chronicles the lives and artistic practice of several different Baker Lake artists, while the Photographs and Slides series include many different examples of the type of artwork being produced in Baker Lake. The collection also includes different types of publications concerning artist’s perspectives on their own work, exhibitions, and the important issue of Indigenous representation in artistic spaces.
