The fonds consists of one handwritten letter, dated November 28, 1915, from Father Edward J. Barton to Dr. D.A. Stewart. Dr. David Alexander Stewart (1874-1932), a graduate of the University of Manitoba, was the founder and superintendent of Ninette Sanatorium for tuberculosis in Manitoba. The letter was intended to inform Dr. Stewart of the death of Father Superior Paul Benoit, Sr., the first parish priest of Notre Dame de Lourdes, and discussed the earlier death of Father Paul Benoit, Jr.

The A1991-010, A1992-012 fonds contains working copies of published essays, articles, stories, poems, manuscripts and personal and family correspondence. There are two copies of Purple and Gold (1937-1938), news clippings, travel diaries, a scrapbook of her articles, a video tape collection of Parents and Children, and miscellaneous audio tapes.

The 2001-008 accession consists of personal information, professional and personal correspondence, a published magazine article, unpublished material, a speech, miscellaneous material relating to Fredelle Maynard, and material relating to other family members of Fredelle Maynard. The accession also contains an extensive photograph collection comprising of 138 negatives, 17 slides, and 2826 photographs. In addition, the fonds includes 13 video cassettes and 22 audio cassettes.

The contents of this fonds contains information pertaining to the work that Marie Bouchard carried out throughout her 11 years in Baker Lake. The Artist series includes material pertaining to individuals such as Jessie Oonark and Marion Tuu’luq, detailing information related to various exhibitions they participated in. The series of interviews conducted by Marie Bouchard throughout the 1990s chronicles the lives and artistic practice of several different Baker Lake artists, while the Photographs and Slides series include many different examples of the type of artwork being produced in Baker Lake. The collection also includes different types of publications concerning artist’s perspectives on their own work, exhibitions, and the important issue of Indigenous representation in artistic spaces

Leon John Eekman fonds

This fonds contains a memorial book “The Spirit Lives” (Hamilton, Ontario: Brown’s Enterprises, 1945) in a decorative box for the 29 September 1954 funeral service of Leon John Eekman (1880-1954), which contains the signatures of the attendees. Also in the box were 2 b/w photographs of a bedridden or recently deceased man (dated 12 September 1917, labeled “Diaconessenhuis Utrecht” on back) (this is almost certainly Eekman’s father Thomas Adam Eekman, who died on 12 September 1917 in Utrecht) & an obituary clipping for Leon John Eekman from a Victoria newspaper (photocopied 8 June 2015). It also contains a reproduction of the registration of death housed in the BC Archives at the Royal BC Museum, printed by the archivist during the processing of this collection on 25 June 2015.

During the Great War of 1914-1919, organizations formed in Canada to support the war effort as well as contending with the human casualties. Included in these organizations were women’s projects such as sewing circles and other social functions to help incorporate community members while large segments were abroad. Humanitarian organizations like the Red Cross played a pivotal role in engaging members of the community at home to service those abroad. The fonds contains two letters of internal correspondence written in 1918 from The Canadian Red Cross Society and the Patriotic Sewing Circle. Both letters are type-written on letterhead and are in good condition.

Der Nachlass bezieht sich in erster Linie auf die Untersuchungen parapsychischer Erscheinungen, die T.G. und Lillian Hamilton im Zeitraum zwischen 1918 und 1945 vornahmen. Thematisch geht es bei diesen Unterlagen um Klopfen, Hellsehen, Trance-Zustände und -Diagramme, Telekinese, Wachsabdrücke, Glockenzeichen, Nachschriften und Visionen, sowie um teleplasmische Manifestationen. Die Unterlagen weisen eine Vielzahl von Formaten auf: Einklebe-Alben, Teilnehmerlisten und Register von Séancen, Zeugenberichte, automatisches Schreiben, Korrespondenz, Reden und Vorträge, Zeitungsausschnitte, Zeitschriftenaufsätze, Bücher, Fotografien, fotografische Platten (Negative und Positive), Abzüge, Diapositive, Tonbänder, Manuskripte, Reklame im Zusammenhang mit grösseren Veröffentlichungen. Sämtliche fotografischen Abzüge, die auf den Negativ-Platten beruhen, sind bei den schriftlichen Berichten über die durch sie illustrierten Experimente belassen. Mit wenigen Ausnahmen wurden die Negativ-Platten zur Archivierung neu fotografiert und sind damit in der Form von schwarz-weiss Abzügen (glänzend) zugänglich. Eine Sammlung dazugehörender Bücher und Zeitschriften, die sich im Nachlass befanden, wurde als selbständige Bibliothek katalogisiert und zugänglich gemacht.

Samuel Pritchard Matheson fonds

The fonds consists of one letter from Archbishop Matheson to A.V. Mitchener at Manitoba Agricultural College dated November 17, 1919. Archbishop Matheson's letter is a response to Mitchener's request for information on the grasshopper plague of 1867-1868.

Hamilton Family fonds

The fonds is primarily related to Dr. T.G. and Lillian Hamilton's investigations of psychic phenomena spanning the years 1918 to 1945. The subject matter of the records includes rappings, clairvoyance, trance states and trance charts, telekinesis, wax molds, bell-ringing, trance scripts and visions, as well as teleplasmic manifestations. The records are in the following various formats: scrapbooks, seance attendance records and registers, affidavits, automatic writings, correspondence, speeches and lectures, newsclippings, journal articles, books, photographs, glass plate negatives and positives, prints, slides, tapes, manuscripts, and promotional materials related to major publications. All positive prints taken from the photographic negatives have been retained with the written records of the experiments which they illustrate. Almost all the glass plate negatives were photographed for archival purposes, and the black and white glossy print collection is also available. A library of related books and journals which accompanied the collection has been separately catalogued and is available. An acession from 2012, donated by Margaret Hamilton Bach's Daughter, Dorothy Reynolds Bach, contains a photo of Lillian May Hamilton, ca. late 1940s, several photographs taken in the 1930s that ended up in the book "Intention and Survival", and various reviews of that book and "Is Survival a Fact?" Also included is Lillian May Hamilton's personal copy of "Intention and Survival".
