The fonds consists of numerous correspondence between Mykola Hnatiw and various colleagues, associates and acquaintances, including: renowned sculptor Leo Mol; former Ukrainian dissident Danylo Shumuk; Ukrainian Canadian author and activist John Kolasky (Ivan Koliaska); Anna Kliuchko, the daughter of the revered Ukrainian poet and writer Ivan Franko; Hryhorii Kostiuk, Ukrainian American writer and publicist with the Ukrainian Free Academy of Sciences in the U.S.A.; and author and historian Jurij Lawrynenko (New York). Also contained within the collection is some biographical information on Mr. Hnatiw, including certificates and newspaper clippings.

The records of this fonds have been arranged in their original form, retaining the file/binder inscriptions as file titles in the finding aid. The fonds consists of the scrapbooks (central records) comprise the first series in the collection. Records created by Past Presidents of the Alumnae are found in the second series. Committee records, which were kept separately from the Central Records, form the third series. The forth series, General Records, group items generated by some officers/members in an official capacity. As such, it follows the same functional principle as series two and three, but uses thematic file titles. The last two series, however, are artificially created subject files formed from scattered records in the accessions and memorabilia. Photographs and posters not contained in the scrapbooks have been transferred to Photograph Collection (Pc 290, A.09-91) which also contains Alpha Omega Alumnae's 50th Anniversary Album. The audio recordings have been transferred to Tape Collection (TC 150, A.09-91).

A2011-079 consists of print and digital drafts of MacDonald's published and unpublished work, notes, correspondence, and research pertaining to those works, scrapbooks containing clippings related to MacDonald and his work, audio cassettes containing radio plays written by MacDonald, DVD copies of the film adaptation of MacDonald's book Juliana and the Medicine Fish, and CD-RWs containing photographs and text documents.

A2012-002 consists of notebooks containing research for several of MacDonald's books; three photographs; personal correspondence; audio cassettes containing radio adaptations of MacDonald's works and messages from MacDonald's answering machine; a VHS copy of an American Experience episode about spiritualism and Harry Houdini; digital copies of notes, research, and drafts of MacDonald's work on floppy disks and a rewritable compact disc; medals received by MacDonald; and a cork from MacDonald's fortieth birthday celebration.

A2015-122 consists of copies of scholarly articles, graduate student course papers, book reviews, University of Manitoba History department pamphlets, and other materials collected by Stella Hryniuk during and after her years as a graduate student. It also contains copies of her Doctoral Dissertation (University of Manitoba, 1984), the Doctoral dissertation of her partner, Professor Frederick G. Stambrook (University of London, 1960), and a copy of her commemorative book “Holy Family Home: The First 50 Years” (2007). Correspondence concerning Stella Hryniuk’s interest in genealogy, and materials related to her activity in the Ukrainian-Canadian community are also included.

Frederick G. Stambrook fonds

The fonds consists of Dr. Frederick G. Stambrook's manuscripts, articles and lecture notes pertaining to his academic teaching career at the University of Sydney and the University of Manitoba. The fonds also consists of material pertaining to: his research related to the microfilm project focusing on the German and British foreign offices in the first half of the 20th century; Germany from the 1920s -1960s, -- including its rearmament in the 1930s; the world banking crisis in the 1920s-1930s; and his research on Bukovyna (Bukovina). In addition there are textual records on the Canadian Soccer Association, which Dr. Stambrook was involved with for many years. The fonds is divided into nine series: administrative material, papers and presentations given by AIM co-investigators at various national and international conferences, material relating to the 1996 AIM interviews, material relating to the National Evaluation of the Cost-Effectiveness of Home Care, material relating to the 2001 AIM interviews, material relating to the 2005 and 2006 AIM interviews, material relating to the study’s involvement in international research on aging, publications of the study, including several theses, and a series of 28 posters used in presentations. Two audio cassette tapes containing recordings of Betty Havens speaking at conferences are included in Tc 140, and a 3.5-inch floppy diskette containing material relating to a diabetes literature review is included in El 10.

The collection also includes taped interviews with or about various church artists or architects. Also included in the collection are records related to the research and preparation of the manuscript "Monuments to Faith: Ukrainian Churches in Manitoba," as well as miscellaneous records of the Manitoba Eastern European Heritage Society.

The collection consists of textual records in the form of published documents, correspondence and working papers reflective of Nordrum’s involvement with women’s organizations and activities. In her capacity as policy analyst and Junior League member, Nordrum participated in a variety of organizations dedicated to addressing issues of gender equality, empowerment and access. The type of groups and the issues on her agenda were conditioned by events, such as the Meech Lake Accord hearings and the murder of fourteen women in Montreal. Most notably, she was involved in the creation of an organization whose purpose was assisting women enter the political arena. Overall, the fonds provides some useful insight into the concerns of women in the 1980s and 90s and their collective attempts to address inequities.

The fonds is comprised of three accessions. The first contains a photograph album with photos, newspaper clippings, programs from school events in the 1930s and other documents, as well as loose photographs and baby books for T.G. and Lillian Hamilton's twins, Arthur Lamont (1915-1918) and James Drummond (1915-1980). It also includes the Forrester family prayer book (printed in 1771). The second accession derives from Lillian Hamilton and James D. Hamilton’s personal records, including psychical research publications, photographs and files pertaining to some of T.G. Hamilton’s psychic experiments. The third accession consists of a final draft of an article meant to be published in the Winter 2016 issue of the Paranormal Review.

Algonquian Conference/Actes du Congrès des Algonquinistes fonds

The Algonquian Conference is an annual conference that has now been held for more than 30 years. It is scheduled for the last weekend of October and attracts a large audience, since both academics and non-academics interested in the subject can contribute papers. Organizers usually put out a call for papers in April or early May. The program committee has the right to decline unsuitable papers.

The fonds consists of organizational, fiscal, and editorial records, the cumulative index, orders, and type-settings (camera-ready artwork) for papers of the Algonquian Conference.

The fonds also consists of material pertaining to her research in Puerto Rico when she was a graduate student, as well as a her academic research work with her studies of the Inuit of the North, during her tenure as a faculty member with the Department of Anthropology, University of Manitoba. In addition there are textual records pertaining to her involvement with various national and international professional associations, including the Sigma Xi Scientific Society. The collection also contains a total of 4624 photographs, 90 negatives, and 1,125 photo slides.

Some publications on Manitoba place names are included in the collection as well as a few of the writer's own historical essays on Manitoba sites and history. The collection also includes the author's biographical essay on Arnold Brigden.
