Ed Schreyer fonds

The fonds consists of eleven series, the first of which is compiled of Biographical Information. The next seven are compiled in chronological order. The second covers Schreyer’s time teaching at Beausejour Collegiate, pursuing his own academic career as well as lecturing at St. Paul’s College. It contains many term papers and course notes. The third are his files from two terms as an M.L.A. The fourth depicts his terms as an M.P. These files have been maintained in the filing order that Schreyer kept them using his system of record keeping. The fifth and largest series covers Schreyer’s tenure as Premier of Manitoba and is comprised of daily journals, election correspondence, Hydro Inquiries, meeting minutes & speeches. The sixth series documents the year that he was Leader of the Opposition. The seventh and other large series comprises Schreyer’s five-year term as Governor General of Canada. It consists of correspondence, reports, speeches, itinerary of his many visits and appointment books. The eighth series covers Schreyer’s time as High Commissioner to Australia and includes diaries, correspondence, and speeches. The ninth series is personal material including scrapbooks and guest books from many personal and professional occasions. The last two series are the Photo Collection and the Tape Collection.

The fonds is separated into series. The first series is biographical information and family material 1896-2003. It includes diaries and appointment books. The second series is correspondence from 1930-2003. The third series is book drafts and correspondence with publishers from 1944-1998. The fourth series is comprised of research material for a book on the 50th anniversary of Jewish Child & Family Services and the History of Education Project 1990-2001. The fifth series contains articles, speeches, conference programs & book reviews 1930-2001.The sixth series is radio scripts 1955-1981. The seventh series is Patriotic Observances for Manitoba Department of Education. The eighth series is material from the University of Manitoba from 1945-2001. The ninth series is material relating to education 1915-2002. The tenth series contains research material on Aging & Senior Citizens 1969-1994. The eleventh series is research on women. Series twelve contains information on the Canadian Civil Liberties Association 1993-2002. Research material on Shack's wide ranging areas of interest comprises the thirteen series. Series 14 contains information on Shack's Awards 1969-2002. Series 15 contains biographical information, eulogies & obituaries on Shack's friends 1972-1996. Series 16 contains information on Jewish history, 1950-1996. Series 17 contains information about Shack's adoptive brother John Hirsch 1951-1988. Series 18 contains literary material by other people to sent to Shack 1977-2001. Series ninteen is miscellaneous material 1917-2001. The final series twenty contains oversize material including newspaper clippings, awards, plaques, degrees and a family tree.

The fonds then includes audio cassettes, photo collections, and a video cassette.

The collection consists of literary manuscripts of her books and poems; tape recordings of her interviews; and some scattered correspondence. As a participant in Dr. T. Glendenning Hamilton's experiments on parapsychology, Sykes' few notes on those studies are included here.

Andrew Suknaski fonds

In 1987, having wearied of transporting his personal papers during his frequent moves, Suknaski burned twenty years of records in a bonfire in his backyard. What remains of his papers encompasses the years 1977-1992. The collection comprises 15 linear feet. There are drafts of many of his published works as well as correspondence with literary figures like Eli Mandel, John Newlove, Robert Kroetsch and Kristjana Gunnars. The fond contains many unpublished poems and several drafts of the films that Suknaski worked on for the National Film Board And C.B.C. Perhaps the most valuable portion of the collection are the unpublished manuscripts that Suknaski worked on during the 1980s, including Divining the West , Ussuri Line and In Search of Parinti/History of the Roumanians in Western Canada.

The tape collection consists of a description of the original project for linguistic study of the Scotch-Cree dialect called Bungi ; transcriptions of all tapes as made by the Indian History Film Project, and the spectrograms and analysis of Margaret Stobie's dialectal study.

The collection consists predominantly of financial statements and stock certificates of the Winnipeg Grain & Produce Exchange Clearing Association. The collection contains correspondence of Association management with other members, financial institutions and government departments. Also, the general activities of the Association are documented through minute books and other textual records pertaining to annual general meetings.

The collection consists of financial statements, notices of meetings, correspondence, agendas, proxies, minutes, applications, membership listings, draft agreements, memorandums, and by-laws concerning the Winnipeg Commodity Clearing Ltd. The material predominantly concerns the transition of the commodity clearing responsibilities for the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange from the Winnipeg Commodity Clearing Ltd. to the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation and the subsequent dissolution of the WCCL.

Cliff Eyland fonds

This fonds spans over six decades, from the 1960s until 2015, containing the life, work and art of Winnipeg-based artist, professor and curator Cliff Eyland. The fonds has been divided into 10 series and is largely composed of Eyland’s individual drawings and personal art projects, as well as photos and slides of artwork and exhibitions by various artists. Additionally, the collection contains the documentation of Eyland’s personal life, various events, exhibitions and numerous trips.

Margaret Avison accrual

The 2001 accrual contributes photographs, audiotapes, to the existing fonds, as well as material relating to Avison’s work such as worksheets, manuscripts, published copies, and reviews. It also includes correspondence from the 1980s to 2001, material relating to the honours and awards that she has received, and lectures and readings. This accrual contains Avison’s Bible study notes created from 1967 to 2001.

The 2003 accrual contains textual records mostly relating to recent published books. There are photographs dating from 1921 to 2003 and audio cassettes dating from 1987 to 2003.

The accrual (A.07-55) donated in 2007 contains 24 cm of textual records mostly relates to recent publications, production and publicity of Margarite Avison's work.

The final accrual donated in 2007 consists of Margaret Avison's correspondence arranged A-Z, book reviews, her manuscripts "Momentary Dark" ; "Concrete and Wild Carrot"; and the photograph and audio collections.

Margaret Avison's final collection of poems "Listening: last poems" (Winner of the Griffin Poetry Prize) was donated in 2009.

The initial collection consists of several hundred unpublished poems written by Margaret Avison between 1935 and the late 1970s. A later accession received in 1996 adds correspondence from various literary associates & covers the late 1950s into the mid 1990s. In several instances other writers & poets send samples of their work for Avison's comments. There is a lengthy correspondence between Avison and the American poet Fredrick Bock. The Collection includes two thesis about the works of Margaret Avison and several of her unpublished essays & poems.

Accrual consists of materials compiled by CALL members. The majority of materials concern the administrative duties of the Executive Board.
