The fonds consists of black and white photographs, some of which were processed on card-stock paper or postcard. The photographs depict construction projects, settlement communities, rail roads, indigenous peoples, Charles and Anne Lindbergh, and images of northern landscapes. They document the process of mechanization and frontier expansion. In addition to the photographs is one newspaper clipping with a picture of the "Lindbergh Baby", relating to his kidnapping on March 1st, 1932. The photographs and postcards are stored in two leather bound photo albums with black-paper pages. Painted on the leather covers are an Indigenous chief, a teepee near pine trees, and the words "Photograph Album"€ and "Churchill".€

Hamilton from ca. 1904 (annotated “TGH aged 31”), and three copies of a photograph of T.G. and Lillian Hamilton sitting with spirit photographer William Hope in England in 1932 (2 marked, 1 annotated), as well as the envelope which contained these and other materials. This collection also includes a CD of scanned versions of these 4 photographs and 1 annotated reverse side.

The diary includes details about his working life, traveling, and details about the progress of his children, Campbell and Marjorie. The letters to D. McIntyre from 1913 to 1935 include a letter from Ella M. Hunt, wife of W.M. Hunt, letters of sympathy, and letters to McIntyre from his son, Campbell, regarding his college graduation. One sheet of sermon notes is included.

The fonds consists of two 16 mm film reels of a 1935 rally in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan of the Canadian Ukrainian Youth Association (C.Y.M.K.). The films offer individual and group footage of young Ukrainians from the western region as well as scenes of the prairie city in the mid-1930s. There are some striking frames of the delegates participating in mass calisthenics.

The fonds consists of John Skirving Ewart's notes and draft of his unfinished manuscript, Political History of Canada. The fonds also contains material collected by Thomas Seaton Ewart while he was a student at St. John's College and while he was a civil servant in the Manitoba provincial government of John Bracken. This material includes the "First and Second Interim Reports of the Royal Commission Constituted to Inquire Into All Matters Pertaining to the Manitoba Agricultural College" submitted by Judge A. O. Galt in May 1917, and extracts from the "Report of the Royal Commission Constituted to Inquire Into an Report on All Expenditures for Road Work During the Year 1914" submitted by Judge G. Paterson. It also contains reviews on his book on waivers: Waiver Distributed (1917); correspondence with Prof. S. Williston, Harvard Law School (1917); newspaper clippings, transcripts of speeches by Premier Bracken, provincial government papers and correspondence of John Bracken. The photograph collections features photographs of John Skirving Ewart and a photograph relating to John Bracken's re-election bid in 1936.

The Algonquian Conference is an annual conference that has now been held for more than 30 years. It is scheduled for the last weekend of October and attracts a large audience, since both academics and non-academics interested in the subject can contribute papers. Organizers usually put out a call for papers in April or early May. The program committee has the right to decline unsuitable papers.

The fonds consists of organizational, fiscal, and editorial records, the cumulative index, orders, and type-settings (camera-ready artwork) for papers of the Algonquian Conference.

John W. Dafoe fonds

The fonds consists of Dafoe's personal and political records, including diaries, correspondence, speeches, editorials, articles, memoranda, reports and news clippings. Included are two unpublished diaries: one written in 1919 while Dafoe attended the Paris Peace Conference, and the other written in 1923 while at the Imperial Conference. Correspondence ranges from 1896 to 1944 and is most complete in the years immediately after the First World War. Dafoe had many correspondents all over the world, most of whom dealt with public affairs, economic and political issues, and international activities. Included in the fonds are sixty-six speeches, mostly of a political nature, and which range in date from 1911 to 1943. There is also a collection of his writings, including his Manitoba Free Press editorials from July to October of 1917, and 25 reports and research compilations on a variety of subjects. Newspaper clippings include reviews of his books and articles. Other miscellaneous material includes the Dafoe family tree, memorials written by friends and peers, and a semi-biographical sketch of Dafoe's early years written by his sister, Mrs E. Emerson. Archives & Special Collections also houses an ancillary collection, in microform format (MF 15), of his printed Manitoba Free Press editorials from 1928 to 1944.
