The fonds consists of photographic reprints depicting the opening of the Hebrew University campus at Mount Scopus, Jerusalem on April 1, 1925 and the surrounding region. The focus is on the University of Manitoba's representative, Dr. Edmund Guthrie Perry, head of the Department of Classics, and Max Steinkopf, a prominent Winnipeg lawyer and business executive who accompanied Dr. Perry on the trip. Other dignitaries found in the photos include Lord Arthur James Balfour, British Foreign Secretary; Viscount Allenby; and Sir Herbert Samuel.

The fonds consists of press releases issued by the University Relations and Information Office (UA 16) and a large and growing number of photographs and video-cassettes. The photograph collection (PC 6, PC 80) consists of 2743 photographs depicting life on the Fort Garry and Bannatyne campuses. PC 31 and PC 34 consists of 80 video-cassettes depicting University of Manitoba convocation ceremonies. The numerous tape collections (TC 6, 8, 12-14, 16, 18, 22, 27, 29, 30, 52-56) consist of audio recordings of convocation ceremonies.

The University Libraries fonds (UA 9) contains correspondence, reports, surveys, statistics and minutes, with files pertaining to Library Committees, acquisitions, library budgets, staff, publications, circulation of library material, library holdings and collections, and grants and awards. The collection documents the work of the Libraries Administration and the unit libraries within the Libraries' system. UA SC 50 and TC 32 consists of enrollment forms, correspondence, budget information, minutes, and six audio cassettes recording the "Continuing Education: Library and Information Needs" conference. The conference was sponsored by the University of Manitoba Libraries, Public Library Services, the Manitoba Library Association, and the Continuing Education Division of the University of Manitoba. The photograph collection (PC 47) consists of 7 photographs depicting the opening of the Carolyn Sifton Wing of the Elizabeth Dafoe Library. MC 5 consists of three maps. PC 5 consists of photographs depicting the opening of the Carolyn Sifton Wing as well as library employees. Two of the maps are identical and entitled Transportation Map (of) Greater Winnipeg, showing street Car Trolley Bus and Bus Lines. These maps, published by the Winnipeg Electric Company, depict the various public transportation routes available in 1941 Winnipeg. The third map is a map of Manitoba, published in 1897 with the authority of the provincial government of Manitoba by the Bulman Brothers and Co. Map Engravers of Winnipeg.

The Source Files series includes drafts of publications, papers and presentations, partially completed projects, analyses, and related data.

The bulk of the collection covers the period 1960 to 1985. The 2005 accession consists of 1 Beta SP cassette featuring stock footage taken in 1945 on black and white film, approximately 1 minute and 17 seconds long, of the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Home Economics. Students of the Home Economics program can be seen attending lectures, walking about the campus, and engaging in vacuuming, making beds, food preparation, washing and entertaining babies, and eating.

The fonds consist of approximately 5,110 negatives (3 per strip) taken by Jon Thordarson during his time as a photographer for the Winnipeg Tribune. The negatives document the Winnipeg Jets hockey team from 1974 to 1980. Almost all the negatives involve hockey and majority of those include the Jets.

Box 1 contains 55 envelopes containing approximately 1870 negatives.
Box 2 contains 108 envelopes containing approximately 3240 negatives.

The collection consists of several hundred research note cards with collected data on the origin and location of place names to settlements, townships, lakes, rivers, forts, islands, creeks, and other geographical sites in Manitoba.

A separate set of note cards provides English translations to many of the Indian names. Some publications on Manitoba place names are included in the collection as well as a few of the writer's own historical essays on Manitoba sites and history. The collection also includes the author's biographical essay on Arnold Brigden.
