The fonds consists of two North-West Territories Public School Leaving Examinations booklets from June 1897 and June 1898. The Department of Education in Medicine Hat was part of the North-West Territories until the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta were created out of the Territories in 1905. Although the first schools in Alberta were founded by Catholic and Protestant missionaries in the mid-nineteenth century, the North-West Territories School Ordinance of 1884 established a dual confessional system of Catholic and Protestant schooling based on the Quebec model. A photocopy of a group photograph including Ms. Ireland and her father, Thomas, owner of the local brewery, is also included.

The fonds consists of three bound volumes. Volume 1 contains discourses on John 13.22, Matthew 7.11, and Luke 13.7 and is dated September 1, 1850. It could have been written by Bishop David Anderson. Volume 2 contains a day-to-day summary of the collections at St. John's Cathedral and is dated December 3, 1865 - March 26, 1882. Volume 3 contains questions and answers on the history of the primitive church and could have been written by Rupert's Land Bishop Robert Machray.

The fonds contains some of Dr. Gordon S. Fahrni's personal and professional papers dating from 1924 to 1977. Included are Fahrni's genealogical table, a German translation of his father's biography, Christian Fahrni, his recollections of medicine and of the Manitoba Medical School (1906-1946), and an interview with Gordon Fahrni by Jean Morrison. Also included is a collection of offprints of his research papers.

MSS SC 26 contains a copy of Professor Butler's lecture "The Form of the Book and the Shape of the Mind", delivered in 1978 at the Winnipeg Centennial Library as part of the Manitoba Library Event, a press release and a calendar of events for Manitoba Library Event and Children's Book Festival in November 1978. MSS SC 65 consists of a photocopy of Loys Le Roy's pamphlet, "De la Vicissitude des Choses," and a bibliographic history of the first edition prepared by Butler.

The fonds consists of a program entitled "Concert by the Faculty of the Imperial Academy of Music and Arts at the Royal Alexander Hotel, Saturday evening January 30, 1909 at 8:30." The performers were Milan Sokoloff on piano, Louis Persinger on violin, George Soeller on flute, Alexander Savine, voice, all of whom were accompanied by Fred M. Gee on the piano. Milan Sokoloff earned a LL.B. from the University of Manitoba in 1928.

Folder 1 contains a carbon copy of a January 1941 confidential report by Tracy Phillips to Associate Minister, Department of National War Services, on European immigrants in Canada regarding consolidation of public opinion among Canadians of East European ethnic origin for the war effort. Included are carbon copies of a December 1940 letter from Tracy Phillips to Colonel James Ness, President of the Association of Canadian Clubs, and a January 1941 telegram from Tracy Phillips to professor Watson Kirkconnell. Folder 1 also contains a February 1941 letter from T.A. Crerar to John W. Dafoe (1866-1944), a 1925 Government Railway of Australia First class Imperial Press Conference pass issued to Mrs. Dafoe, and the work Extract from Political Studies: J.W. Dafoe and Lionel Curtis - Two Concepts of the Commonwealth (vol. VIII, No. 2, June, 1960). Folder 2 contains eleven letters to M. S. Donnelly from various people on the subject of the biography of J.W. Dafoe that M.S. Donnelly was writing.

The fonds consists of six files. The first file, formerly classified as MSS SC 52, consists of a variety of historical writings about Manitoba, as well as correspondence between Brandon Sun editor, C.W. Litchfield, and Winnipeg reporter, J. Fahey. The three files comprising MSS SC 53 contain papers and correspondence primarily pertaining to Manitoba politics and government during the first decade of the 20th century. Also included is a memorial from the legislature of the Province of Manitoba respecting the extension of the boundaries of the province. The fifth file, formerly classified as MSS SC 79, consists of correspondence between James P. MacDonald, MacDonald's lawyer Alex Arthur, Winnipeg grain merchant George Leary, Manitoba Premier, R.P. Roblin, and former Premier Thomas Greenway concerning the construction of a railroad between Northeastern Minnesota and Winnipeg. This series also includes a contract between J.P. MacDonald and George Leary, plus Manitoba Free Press clippings on the railroad. The last file, MSS SC 80, consists of records pertaining to a libel case against Manitoba Free Press editor, John W. Dafoe, concerning the Free Press's reporting of illegal payment of funds during the Boyne Marsh Drainage of September 1900.

Folder 1 contains a manuscript notebook of Mechanics and Kinematics, a course taken by E. P. Fetherstonhaugh in Spring 1897. Folder 2 contains three manuscript notebooks of Machine Design, a course taken in Fall 1897, and Spring 1898. Folder 3 contains a manuscript notebook of Dynamics of Machinery, a course taken in Spring 1899. The back cover of the notebook holds two loose leaves of Electrical Engineering notes. Folder 4 contains two manuscript notebooks: Electrical Physics, taken in Fall 1897/Spring 1898, and Electrical Engineering, taken in Fall 1898/Spring 1899. Folder 5 contains a book: Essays and Addresses, Religious, Literary and Social by Phillips Brooks (1894) awarded to E.P. Fetherstonhaugh as a prize in the high school in 1895.

The fonds consists of lecture notes and exam solutions for Dynamics of Machines, an Engineering course taught by Norman Macleod Hall from 1923 to 1945. The fonds contains two folders. Folder 1 contains lecture notes on steam and gas engines. Folder 2 contains lecture notes, machine blueprints and exam solutions. N.M. Hall also wrote a 15 page pamphlet entitled "Report on Winnipeg Heating Company Limited" in 1932. This pamphlet is stored in MSS 90, Box 4, Folder 2, Item 1.
