Eaton'€s Department Store fonds

The fonds contains four Eaton's pamphlets printed on colored paper. The pamphlets are titled: "€œA Girls Guide to Hosiery",€ "€œRecent Additions to the Eaton's Lending Library", and two from May 8 and 15 of 1941 titled "€œOur Own Fashion Teas in the Grill Room."€ The textual records display the events and information provided to the public about the goings on at the Eaton'€™s Winnipeg location.

The fonds consists of recordings of proceedings of a symposium held by the Franco-Manitoban Society at St. John's College on January 17-18, 1975. The symposium was sponsored by St. John's College, University of Manitoba. Robert Painchaud, who spoke at the January 1975 symposium, was a historian and professor at the University of Winnipeg. Painchaud spoke about the history of Franco-Manitobans, and their image and identity. Another speaker at the symposium was Father Laval Cloutier, principal of the College de St. Boniface, who spoke about bilingual education in Manitoba.

The fonds consists of lecture notes and exam solutions for Dynamics of Machines, an Engineering course taught by Norman Macleod Hall from 1923 to 1945. The fonds contains two folders. Folder 1 contains lecture notes on steam and gas engines. Folder 2 contains lecture notes, machine blueprints and exam solutions. N.M. Hall also wrote a 15 page pamphlet entitled "Report on Winnipeg Heating Company Limited" in 1932. This pamphlet is stored in MSS 90, Box 4, Folder 2, Item 1.

Kenneth Hayes Collection

The collection consists of eighteen black and white photographs of figures from the 1885 North-West Resistance. Fifteen of the photographs are originals (1869-1890) and three are photographs of photographs. Also included are four negatives of death certificates, the Charles Pelham Mulhavey book entitled The History of the North-West Rebellion of 1885, a telegram, a letter, and a photocopy.

The fonds contains correspondence, assorted news clippings, a photo album, and typed drafts of his published manuscripts: Sarah Binks, Tower of Siloam, Willows Revisited, Doubting Castle and For the Birds. Included is an original typescript with revisions of Here Lies Sarah Binks, a stage production produced in Toronto by Don Harron in 1970. Two manuscripts of unpublished works are also included in the fonds. The photograph collection consists of 391 photographs documenting Paul Hiebert's life and career.

The first accessions (A.90-20, A.90-38, A.0-48, A.91-54) are divided into three series: personal, publications, and politics. The personal series contains Holt's university essays. The publication series contains material pertaining to Holt's four published books and her newspaper career. Politics contains her correspondence as an MP.

The second accession (A.05-53) is divided into thirty-one series. They include biographical information and journals, Leon Holt material, Milner family, writing and research, unpublished material and manuscripts, her autobiography material, Johnathan Pollard research material, First Force manuscript, Council for the Damned manuscript, child violence research, drug research, women's research, justice system research, research material on Asia, Democratic Party research, National Parole Board, Liberal Party material, miscellaneous research, her articles, speeches and workshops, television projects and courses taught, academic material, awards, House of Commons, correspondence, lawsuits and complaints, writing by others, oversize material, map cabinet material, photographs, and tapes.

The third accession (A.07-14) is divided into five series and contains material pertaining to the court case Supreme Court of British Columbia - Simma Holt v. Thomson aka Sonja d. Fletcher Coronation Real Estate Services Ltd. d.b.a. Royal Lepage Coronation West Realty, and Ada Van Leeuwen.

The fourth accession (A.10-88) is divided into 8 series. They include: biographical & family material, diaries & journals, manuscripts & columns, correspondence, Gerald Eaton murder case, leaky condo material, photo collection (PC 103) and tape collection TC 103).

Margaret Wilson Ireland fonds

The fonds consists of two North-West Territories Public School Leaving Examinations booklets from June 1897 and June 1898. The Department of Education in Medicine Hat was part of the North-West Territories until the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta were created out of the Territories in 1905. Although the first schools in Alberta were founded by Catholic and Protestant missionaries in the mid-nineteenth century, the North-West Territories School Ordinance of 1884 established a dual confessional system of Catholic and Protestant schooling based on the Quebec model. A photocopy of a group photograph including Ms. Ireland and her father, Thomas, owner of the local brewery, is also included.

The Audio-Visual Collection includes Taylor’s CD collection, slides, video recordings, audio cassette tapes and negatives.

Hamilton’s childhood home at Agincourt, Ontario in 1927. This collection also contains a CD of scanned images of the 38 photographs from the original album sheets and any reverse sides with annotations (Folder 2).
