Jonas Lehrman accrual

Accrual consists of negatives of Lehrman's Islam Gardens Photographs. These were assembled over several years of his visits to India, Pakistan, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Italy, Iran, Egypt and S. Russia. Some, but not all, were printed in his book Earthly Paradise - Garden and Courtyard in the World of Islam (London: Thames and Hudson, 1980)

The fonds consists of photographic negatives of Islamic courtyards and gardens from Lehrman's travels in the following countries: Algeria (1978), Egypt (1978), India (1974-1996), Iran (1974 and 1978), Italy (1978), Morocco (1978), Pakistan (1976), Spain (1978), and Turkey (1978). Many of these photographs were used in Lehrman's Earthly Paradise: Garden and Courtyard in Islam, which was published in 1980. In addition to textual records, the fonds contains 900 black and white negatives, 76 enlarged mounted photographs, 1458 photographs mounted in albums, 1440 slides, and 1 video recording.
