Fonds
1985-2005
The fonds displays a wealth of background information on the state of Aboriginal Peoples in Canada in the late-20th and early-21st centuries, as well as showing the depth and versatility of a uniquely gifted artist. The fonds consists of four series related to the life and career of Marvin Francis. The material documents his writing career as a poetry and prose writer with an indexed collection based on typewritten and handwritten manuscripts. Included are drafts of poetry, short stories, and stage and radio plays. Also in the collection is extensive secondary information reflective of his career as a poet, playwright, visual artist and actor, his work as a creative writing instructor, his participation in writing festivals and readings, and his work as a principal member of artistic groups such as the Manitoba Aboriginal Writers Collective, the Urban Shaman art gallery and the Manitoba Writers Guild. PC 250 consists of 6 VHS videocassettes and 2 mini digital videocassettes. The tape collection (TC 141) consists of 7 audio cassettes, 6 mini audio cassettes, and 7 compact discs. EL 12 consists of 8 3.5" computer diskettes.
The fonds consists mainly of financial records in the form of farm account books. These account books were made available to farmers by various sources over the years, including the John Deere company, United Grain Growers , the Division of Agricultural Economics at the University of Manitoba, and the Manitoba Department of Agriculture and Conservation. There were a number of miscellaneous documents stuffed inside the account books; a few have been left where they were found but the larger groups of documents have been placed in separate folders. There are also computer printouts in this fonds from 1976 and 1977 from the CANFARM farm accounting system, which has a computerized program in which all financial transactions were coded and sent in by the farmer to the regional CANFARM office. These transactions were then compiled and sent out to the farmer in the form of printed summaries. There are also some newspaper clippings which were collected by Mr. Friesen which discuss income tax issues.
The fonds consists of five series. They include biographical information, publications, correspondence, reports, budgets & agreements and instructor lists, manuals and publicity brochures.
This collection consists of biographical material, unpublished manuscripts, scrapbooks with published article clippings, copies of published works, and correspondence.
This fonds consists of three accessions of digital material from the creator. The first accession (A09-64) is 2 DVDs of the transcripts of “The T.G. Hamilton Files”; the second (A10-79) is 2 sets of 10 DVDs (7 video discs, 2 text and image discs, and 1 text disc) of “The T.G. Hamilton Files (2010)”; the third (A15-60) is a hard drive containing several .mp4 video recordings, mostly documentary films about life after death, completed in 2015.
The fonds consists of Caroline Dukes' correspondence, catalogues of her exhibitions, her drawings-sketches, and biographical information in form of newspaper clippings.
The collection is arranged into three series. First and foremost are the personal and business papers and diaries of Julius Degen. A second, smaller portion contains material relating directly to the Emmert Land Company, for whom Degen worked. The third contains various materials relating to land, as well as farm receipts.
