[Negatives within this collection are dominated by, but not restricted to the 5" x 7" format. Therefore, some other negative formats will be found within this section. They are catalogued in the same manner as are the 5" x 7" negatives.]
These negatives, both glass and nitrate, are held in the same order as the glass slides. An additional number between 1-51 appears in parenthesis on each separate envelope. This number represents the old box number in which these negatives were held. These boxes were discarded due to their highly acidic nature. Some positives were originally held with the negatives. Where this is the case, the grouping has not been altered.
NB: Many of the negatives are glass and have sharp edges. Care should be exercised when handling.
NB: Many of the negatives come with annotated notes. All annotations are in the words of the donors. However, preservation practices have made it necessary to transcribe some and photocopy others onto acid-free paper.
