Biographical history
Florence Randal Livesay was born in 1874. She was a poet and a novelist. She was married to J.F.B. Livesay, general manager of the Canadian Press. Shortly after their daughter Dorothy's birth, the family moved from Winnipeg to Toronto. Dorothy Livesay became a famous Canadian poet. Both Florence Randal Livesay and her husband were journalists for The Winnipeg Tribune. Florence Randal Livesay was known for her translations of verse from Ukrainian to English. She died in 1953.
Custodial history
The fonds was donated to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections by Elizabeth Anderson Varley in 1978 and York University Library in 2008.
Scope and content
The 1978 accession consists of a letter from Florence Randal Livesay to Elizabeth Anderson Varley, dated December 28, 1943 at Clarkson, Ontario. The letter mentions both J.F.B. Livesay and Dorothy Livesay. The 2008 accession contains a scrapbook containing clippings of Florence Randal Livesay's published poetry and reviews.
