Biographical history

Donald James McFadden was born November 26, 1927 at Rivers, Manitoba. He graduated with a Degree in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba in 1949. He was employed by the Manitoba Department of Agriculture teaching agriculture and doing poultry breeding flock inspections. He married Margaret Dyker in 1953 and raised four children. He served as director and briefly as chairman of the Manitoba Turkey Producers’ Marketing Board until 1987. Donald retired from farming in 1993 but continued assisting his two sons, who had taken on operating the family farm.

Custodial history

The fonds were donated to the University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections by Donald McFadden min 2013 and 2014.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of McFadden's notes, exams, texts from his studies at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Agriculture from 1945-1949. Also included are his typewritten reports submitted as the Men's Residence Treasurer and the Brown and Gold Agriculture (Senior) rep.
