Biographical history
Dave Brownell was an Aboriginal poet and author. He met Margaret Avison at the University of Western Ontario and they became friends.
Custodial history
The fonds was passed to Margaret Avison by Dave Brownell while she was a writer-in-residence at the University of Western Ontario. She donated the fonds to University of Manitoba Archives & Special Collections in 1992.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of a collection of poetry entitled "Warrior of the Rainbow."
