Name of creator
Christopher John Abbott is a Canadian artist, experimenter and medium who has been pursuing spirit breath photography since 2010.
Name of creator
Christine Kesara Dennett is a California-based artist who works with parapsychologists and other investigators of supernatural and paranormal phenomena to create artistic renderings and illustrations of this phenomena. She has been active in this area since 1986, and has also consulted with numerous researchers on books, documentaries and television shows.
This fonds was donated to the University of Manitoba Archives and Special Collections (UMASC) by Christopher John Abbott in 2016, facilitated by Walter Meyer zu Erpen (President, Survival Research Institute of Canada).
Scope and content
Fonds consists of digital and print ‘spirit breath’ photographs created by Christopher Abbott, and digital versions of the Fall 2013 and Winter 2014 issues of the Association TransCommunication NewsJournal. The photographs were taken by Abbott in Burnaby, British Columbia from 2011-2013, and some were subsequently illustrated by artist Christine Dennett in California from 2013-2016. The digital files include the original photograph, the enhanced photograph (where one exists), and occasionally a markup or otherwise altered, but not illustrated, version. The printed photographs include both the original and illustrated version of each photograph. The journals contain articles by Abbott about his breath photography.
